- 1968 Saab 96 (03/04/2024)
This beautiful 1968 Saab 96 is a two-owner car having resided with it's original in Burlingame, CA until I was fortunate enough to purchase it in March of 2019. The entire interior, including even the rubber floormats, is all original and is in virtually new condition. The only exception is the dash top which is newly replaced.
The totally rust free exterior has recently undergone a concourse quality disassembly repaint in a color very close to the original. All the work was done at a Pebble Beach Concourse winning restoration shop in Oregon. At the same time, most of the chrome plated parts including both bumpers were replated at a top quality plating shop in Seattle and appear as new. A new NOS windshield along with all new body seals and a set of Vredestein Sport tires were installed also.
The engine was completely taken down and found to have very minimal wear so I had the crankshaft journals polished and magnafluxed, the cylinder walls honed, new fuel and oil pump inserted, new rings, bearings, gaskets and seals, electronic ignition, radiator core, clutch. The heads were also rebuilt.
The car has no significant issues whatsoever and all components, including the clock function as intended..The odometer reads 105,000 and due to the fact that it was a one owner California car at the time of purchase, had very minimal engine wear, has an original interior that is virtually as new there is certainly no reason to doubt that the mileage shown on the odometer is correct.
My reason for selling is that my age, into the eighties, has finally begun to catch up with me and makes it hard to maintain and enjoy driving it as before. So, the time to part with it has arrived so that it can be fully enjoyed by another Saab enthusiast. I live just outside of Portland, OR, so could easily coordinate with any interested parties at the national Saab meet to be held in Portland this July.
My price is $19,500 and I believe, well worth it.

My father in law has a 1967 Saab 95 Wagon that he needs to get rid of. He had planned to restore it, but it's time to let the project go. I am trying to see if there is anyone who might be interested it in before it goes to a scrap yard.
I'm not sure what value is left in this old ride, but again, I'd like to have it go to someone who could restore it or use the parts. Do you have any interest or know of anyone who might be interested in the vehicle?
The Saab is in Anchorage, AK, so getting it to the lower 48 will require shipping. It needs a LOT of work, and I can provide more details on the status of the vehicle and parts as it is not operational.

Solid Idaho car, rescued from storage several years ago, fuel drained and made runnable. Paint is weathered, front calipers are a bit sticky, tires are weather checked. Runs pretty well. Should be thoroughly be checked over and recommissioned by new owner. Windshield is cracked, but I have a good windshield in the ’71 parts car. Excellent candidate for restoration.

1967 Saab Model 96 850 CC - 3 Cylinder - 2 Stroke
* 4 Speed Column Shift
* 850 CC replacement “Monte Carlo” mixer & oil injected 3 carb engine built by David Baugher.
The rebuild was completed in 2016 by well-known Saab 2-stroke engine builder David Baugher. This Saab has less than 1,000 miles on it since the rebuild. This application has the preferred oil induction reservoir and pump. The mechanical pump feeds two cycle oil directly into the crankcase, eliminating the tedious process of measuring and adding oil to the fuel tank with every fill-up. I have only used semi synthetic two cycle oil since the rebuild.

I am the original owner. The odometer stopped running at a little over 100M miles. I estimate that it has about 250M on the engine. Never had any major problems.
It ran great until about 6 months ago when the starter/switch went out. I decided not to fix it but to offer it for sale as we have too many vehicles and I'm tired of driving it.
